I’ve pretty much lived in this Topshop gilet for the entirety of the Christmas period! My parents house is really cold, which makes it quite difficult to wear anything other than warm jumpers – so when it’s Christmas and you actually want to look nice – it’s hard to find something pretty to wear which is actually warm! This is where the faithful gilet comes in, as you can literally pull it on over even the most hideous of knitted jumpers and transform the outfit into something half stylish! These gilets seemed to be pretty popular before Christmas and Topshop seem to have sold out of the black ones, but there are quite a few other lovely colours available here – including a really pretty shade of grey!
I think I may have made a pledge a few posts ago to include more colour into my outfits in 2014…and clearly with this outfit I’ve done just the opposite! However, with leopard print, surely the very best colour to wear it with is black? To be honest, I think it goes with anything as long as it’s plain in colour but wearing it with other prints is definitely a no no. In terms of the hat, this is another of my cupboard finds and again I have no idea where it came from or who it belongs to. However, it saves me buying one brand new and I really like the texture of this one – lovely and soft! I’ve definitely only recently started to appreciate the hat, firstly it’s a perfect trick for bad hair days and secondly it’s good for keeping the ears warm. My ears always get very cold. Also good for drowning out somebody boring who may be droning at you – you can’t hear a thing through this hat!
These gloves – a birthday present – also haven’t really been taken off lately and I find that a nice pair of gloves can act as another trick/cheat way of glamming up an outfit quickly. Pop these on with anything and you instantly look a little better than you did before – being so lazy, I find I rely pretty heavily on accessories when my imagination just won’t work! The same applies to this bag, I bought it years ago from Miss Selfridge but it’s really stood the test of time and despite being bashed around on trains and in in crowds, it’s barely got a scratch on it! Plus of course the faithful boots are back again, at least with these and the leopard print hat at least there is a small splash of colour in my outfit? Maybe I’ll try more colour tomorrow…
