Christmas Gift Guide For Him | with Debenhams

Shopping for the man in your life? To be honest, whether you’re shopping for your boyfriend, your husband or your brother…man shopping can be hard!

So I’ve teamed up with Debenhams, and my partner in crime (Nick) to bring you a gift guide with a liiiiittle bit of a difference. Instead of me harping on about products that I THINK a man would like, we’ve gone for some options that actually work.

Plus, by roping Nick into a photo session, you can see how the items actually look on a living breathing male.

So here is Nick, wriggling out of his jacket and looking like he wants to make a break for the hills. Probably because I’ve been making him stand still in the cold while I snap some gorgeous gift pieces to show you.

Gift Suggestion Number 1: Waistcoats

Probably wouldn’t be your first thought when you’re thinking up a Christmas present. But I do love a man in a waistcoat and if you think about it, it’s a bit easier than buying a jacket or shirt…there isn’t as much to go wrong in terms of arm length and collar length etc. Nick is sporting the John Rocha light grey linen blend waistcoat which I think looks pretty good! It’s something a bit different which he could wear with jeans, or with smarter trousers, so quite a versatile piece (and something he might not have thought of himself).

Gift Suggestion Number Two: Pocket Squares

Say whaaaat? Bare with me on this one. Nothing screams English gentleman more than a matching pocket square and tie. So maybe you haven’t seen a guy wear one for years or since the last old film you watch, but I think they look amazing and are a really nice little gift to someone who likes dressing up and looking smart. Luckily for me, Nick likes both. Phew. This is a beautifully textured Pocket Square from Hammond & Co

Gift Suggestion Number Three: Ties

So here is the whole thing in action. See what I mean? Plus ties make great presents. You can go smart, or go casual…you can even go silly (judge it on the type of man you’re dealing with.) This is the geometric tie from Hammond & Co again. With or without the Pocket Square, if you’re looking for a little extra, then a tie is a safe bet!

Gift Suggestion Four – Cufflinks

A little ‘Did You Know’ from Nick: Cufflinks first appeared in the 1600s but did not actually become common place until circa 1880.The interesting thing is that humans (and men) have actually been wearing woven fabric shirt garments since as early as 5000 BC – seems ridiculous to me that we only cottoned (forgive the pun) onto shirt-related luxuries in the late 18thC and not before – these wonderful statement pieces literally change the entire look and feel of a shirt and ultimately your outfit. Thankfully, we evolved from the 17thC ribbon cufflink to include gems and precious metals in a range of styles, shapes and fancy looks!

Cufflinks are another epic choice that work amazingly well as a Christmas present. Unless the man in question has a specially engraved pair of cufflinks that he never takes off…you should be safe. I love how Cufflinks bring that little bit extra to a shirt and there are so many designs and patterns to choose from. These are the Thomas Nash engraved stone cufflinks  – ideal!! Plus you’ve got it from the horses mouth up there – he likes!

Gift Suggestion Five – Braces

Braces might be for the more quirky dresser. Nick being one of these. There’s something fun about braces though and if you have more of a dapper dresser on your hands, then this is the perfect gift idea. I do love this pair, here he’s wearing the Osborne beige braces which we both agree we love!

And if you’re still struggling for ideas, remember that Debenhams have some tailored gift guides on their website as part of the #FoundIt campaign – so definitely worth checking those out here

What a cute post! I love that you teamed up for this one. My husband is a fan of all those products and you styled them beautifully here! I'm a huge fan of pocket squares and even made one for all of our groomsmen in our wedding. (:
